Has Miley Gone too Far?

 

        After having minor roles in the television series Doc and the film Big Fish as a child, Miley Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus, had no idea what the role of Hannah Montana, 2006, would do to not only her acting career, but her singing career as well. Because of the innocent Disney Channel role as Hannah, everyone looked at young Miley as a star their kids could look up to.
        In June of 2013, Miley came out with her new single We Can't Stop. The lyrics to her new song threw everyone through a loop. Her lyrics included "Dancing with Molly" and "Everyone trying to get a line in the bathroom." Molly is a chemical used in Ecstasy that has recently became popular. "Getting a line in the bathroom" is referring to a popular method of snorting a line of cocaine in the bathrooms of clubs.
        Needless to say, her performance at the VMA's showed the world once again that she is not the uncorrupt Hannah Montana everyone thought she was. At the VMA's, Miley was very explicit and was not wearing much clothing. She even made it appear as if she was not wearing clothing at all. This caused a lot more publicity for the young star and her fame grew sky high. From my perspective, everyone was talking about it and had everyone asking, "What will she do next?" Miley took that as a challenge and released yet another song, 23. This song shows just how wild her wild side can be. In this song, it is not only the lyrics that make you wonder. Miley is smoking what seems to be a blunt, or cannabis cigar, and was even censored out on T.V.

        So, some might state that other song artists are far more explicit and inappropriate, but others will argue that the jump from being an innocent Disney star to the Miley she is now is what makes some say that she has, in fact, gone too far for long lasted fame.
